What a gift! Well done Peter Lerwil, I hope he has a plaque or something to remember his efforts.
I used to drink there when I work at a warehouse in Borough in early 70s
When ur capital city has thousands of years of history in every square foot you can at least explore that
I used to love visiting that area. Such a shame that developers ruined our heritage.
There is a similar one in Toledo (Spain) made by the same artist
That bronze looks nasty
I need a full video of this..
So it's a mosque 😂😂
Named after my relatives...ha, ha, ha
Wonderful!🤗❤️
Im half swiss, and my family originates from french huegenots. ( Huegenots were persecuted for being protestants and brought a lot of skills with them which other countries didnt have.) A lot of these people settled and established in Switzerland , (notice the reference to clock making,) or over time emigrated to other countries such as USA . All because of lack of tolerance- you lose valuable people...
Londonium peaked with the romans. Its all been downhill since then.
There are lots of Byzantine features I can see too
The guy who saved the building and then gave it to the trust to look after is the star here. Let's be honest, nobody knows these people and their claim to fame isn't really blue plaque award. Sounds harsh, which I don't mean as history should be kept, but their work is their claim to fame, not where they were exiled to and lived their relatively normal lives in exile (again im not knocking them, im sure they were highly skilled in tgeir field👍).
Beautiful, traditional and useful. So many cities would be more human places if they followed this trio as much as possible.
Greathead by name Greathead by reputation
the old tunnel under the river Elbe is still open for use...
So "the rest of the world" is everything south of the Thames?
Even I, an American have heard of the famous Fleet Street. Very interesting city.
You are no longer allowed to talk about bacon in London. 😂
Pepys can always be counted on to have the story on all the stuff going on💖
The Tyburn River flows to this day under Buckingham Palace.
You had wooden escalators? Until 1987?! You guys know you won that war, right?
Hah! Cheap = Kjøp. Got it.
A statue of a Great African
Absolutely great, looks old and really fits in
Kings Cross check out Kwasi Afari Minta
And the ominous floating pyramid?
Shame Londinistan is no longer safe
Isn't London Bridge in Arizona?
My aunt and boyfriend both live in Wells and it's only a 40 minute drive north for me so I'm regularly there. Whilst visiting you have to have a look round bishop's Palace, the cathedral and the high street. They're all great examples of medieval architecture and a glimpse into a distant past
If I lived there, I would ban tourists.
Is this AI with a Brit accent?😅
It was made in the 60's. Far out man.
Love the memento mori stone work above the gate.
Looks nicer than most streets in Carlisle 😂
I dont care for the cathedral but is it actually allowed to live in the houses?! They are absolutely stunning!
Its a tribute to tributaries
So informative!
This is just beautiful and amazing, it's like going back in time, love it.
Always the white ones up
If people just take the time to look , London is full of hidden gems .
lovely bronze poisoning in the water. very smart
They needed to enlist the help of an Earl for this to get done? Wow.
Of course we did 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ 🫡🪖
Being American where not much old is left, certainly not in my podunk town, this is why I loved visiting Europe and the UK. So many incredible, preserved historical buildings and grounds. I absolutely love it.
Where is 3rd world street
Wow
London also forgot about the loot in the world 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ha ha “erected”
